This Artificial Intelligence Policy (the "AI Policy"), effective as of December 18, 2025, as may be amended from time to time (the "Effective Date"), governs the use of Artificial Intelligence ("AI") tools by the Social Finance Hub (the "Portal" or "Hub"), operated by Boann Social Impact LP ("Boann") as steward in consortium with Invoke Digital, Spring Activator, Propel Impact, and CIVIC Capital (collectively, the "Consortium"). References to "we", "us" and "our" in this AI Policy refer to Boann and the Consortium.
This AI Policy applies to all users of the Hub, including but not limited to, social purpose organizations (SPOs), investors, investment advisors, and other participants in the social finance ecosystem (collectively, "Users"). This policy governs the use of AI tools and systems deployed by us on or through the Hub. By accessing or using the Hub’s AI-powered features after the Effective Date, Users agree to be bound by this AI Policy. Users who do not agree to this AI Policy must immediately cease using the Hub's AI-powered features.
We use AI to help improve the way information is organized and presented across the Hub, and to facilitate meaningful connections within Canada's social finance ecosystem. Specific examples of AI features include:
(a) Intelligent Matching and Connection Recommendations: AI algorithms analyze User profile information (including sector focus aligned with IRIS+ standards, UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), legal structure, geography, fundraising status, and leadership representation) to suggest potential connections between social purpose organizations, investors, advisors, and other ecosystem participants. These suggestions are designed to facilitate networking and collaboration opportunities based on compatibility and shared interests.
(b) Generating summaries or recommendations to help Users navigate resources more easily, including curated content and learning hub materials.
(c) Supporting translation and accessibility tools to reach communities in both English and French, ensuring the Hub remains fully bilingual.
(d) Analyzing aggregated and anonymized data trends to better understand how the social finance ecosystem is evolving, in accordance with applicable privacy laws and the standards described in Section 3.
The matching algorithm uses machine learning techniques to identify patterns and compatibility based on publicly available profile information and User-provided preferences. Users retain full control over whether to act on any AI-generated connection suggestions.
The Hub's AI features are designed and operated in compliance with the Hub’s Privacy Policy and applicable Canadian data protection laws. This AI Policy should be read in conjunction with the Privacy Policy. In the event of any conflict between this AI Policy and the Privacy Policy with respect to the collection, use, disclosure, retention, or protection of personal information, the Privacy Policy shall prevail.
(a) We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data.
(b) Any personal information that undergoes analysis by our AI systems is first aggregated and anonymized in accordance with recognized de-identification standards, ensuring that individual identities remain protected and that re-identification is not reasonably foreseeable in the circumstances.
(c) Sensitive personal information is excluded from AI model training processes, thereby safeguarding Users' privacy. Where AI systems process sensitive information for operational purposes (such as providing personalized connection recommendations based on leadership representation or other diversity-related profile attributes), such processing: (i) is conducted solely to fulfill the Hub's mandate to promote equity and inclusion in the social finance ecosystem; (ii) is limited to the minimum information necessary; (iii) employs appropriate technical and organizational safeguards, including encryption and access controls; and (iv) is conducted in accordance with Users' consent and applicable law, including the Personal Information Protection Act (British Columbia).
(d) All data is maintained within secure, encrypted environments that are managed by the Consortium, reinforcing the protection of Users' data.
(e) Strategic Partner Access: The Consortium may share aggregated, anonymized insights or data trends generated by AI systems with strategic partners who support the operation and development of the Hub (including, without limitation, technical service providers, content curators, and other ecosystem participants). Such sharing is conducted in accordance with data-sharing agreements that impose confidentiality and data protection obligations on recipients. Personal information is not shared with strategic partners without User consent, except as necessary for the operation of specific Hub features and only to the extent permitted by applicable law and the Privacy Policy. Users may contact us at info@socialfinancehub.ca to obtain information about strategic partners who may have access to aggregated AI-generated insights.
(a) AI never replaces human decision making on the Hub, it only assists the Hub team in improving Users experience and providing relevant content. AI systems deployed on the Hub are subject to oversight by designated members of the Consortium with relevant expertise. Boann Social Impact LP, as operator and steward of the Hub, maintains ultimate administrative authority over AI features and is responsible for ensuring compliance with this AI Policy. Technical oversight and AI system maintenance are conducted by Invoke Digital as technical lead for the Consortium. Content curation and algorithm refinement are supported by Spring Activator and Propel Impact. Regular reviews of AI system performance, accuracy, and fairness are conducted by the Consortium on at least a quarterly basis. In the event that governance of the Hub is transferred to a new entity or governance structure, Users will be provided with advance notice in accordance with Section 7, and the transferee entity will assume all obligations under this AI Policy.
(b) AI features on the Hub are subject to oversight by the Consortium. While the Hub’s AI systems are developed and tested to promote accuracy and fairness, AI-generated outputs may contain errors, inaccuracies, or approximations. Users acknowledge and agree that: (i) all AI-generated suggestions, summaries, recommendations, or insights are provided for informational purposes only and do not constitute financial, investment, legal, or professional advice. Users should consult with qualified professionals before making financial, investment, legal, or other material decisions; (ii) final decisions regarding investments, partnerships, or other material matters remain the sole responsibility of the relevant parties and are made independently of any AI-generated recommendations or outputs; (iii) Users should independently verify all information before making decisions; and (iv) Users rely on AI-generated content at their own risk.
(c) Investment and Securities Disclaimer: The Hub is not a securities dealer, investment dealer, marketplace, or funding portal, and does not facilitate transactions in securities. AI-generated matches, connections, or recommendations between Users (including between social purpose organizations and investors) are provided solely to facilitate networking and information sharing within the social finance ecosystem. Such AI-generated matches do not constitute investment recommendations, endorsements, solicitations, or advice regarding the purchase or sale of any security or investment product. All Users remain responsible for conducting their own due diligence, complying with applicable securities laws, and making independent investment decisions. No investment or funding relationship should be entered into based solely on AI-generated recommendations.
(d) Liability Disclaimer: To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all liability for decisions made by Users based on AI-assisted content. This disclaimer does not limit liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law.
(a) The Hub’s use of AI is guided by principles of equity, inclusion, and transparency. We implement measures designed to ensure that AI tools that we use reflect the diversity of Canada’s communities and mitigate bias, including: (i) diverse training data sets; (ii) ongoing monitoring of AI outputs for discriminatory patterns; and (iii) procedures for addressing identified bias.
(b) However, Users acknowledge that AI systems may inadvertently produce biased or discriminatory outputs despite these efforts. We are committed to ongoing monitoring and the improvement of AI systems to address bias and discrimination. Users are encouraged to report concerns regarding biased outputs to info@socialfinancehub.ca, and the Consortium will investigate all such reports and take appropriate corrective action.
By using the Hub and its AI powered features, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this AI Policy. If you do not agree to this AI Policy, you must not use AI-powered features of the Hub. Users who do not consent to this AI Policy may continue to access non-AI features of the Hub, subject to the Hub's other applicable terms and policies.
We reserve the right to modify this AI Policy at any time. Material changes will be communicated to Users through prominent notice on the Hub. Users will have at least 30 days from the date of notice to review material changes before they take effect. Continued use of AI features following the effective date of material changes constitutes acceptance of the modified policy. Users who do not accept material changes may cease using AI-powered features while retaining access to non-AI features of the Hub. The current version of the policy will always be available on the Hub with the effective date clearly indicated.
If you have any questions about how the Hub uses AI or how your data is protected, or if you wish to exercise your rights under applicable privacy laws (including rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information or to withdraw consent or challenge compliance), or to report concerns regarding biased or discriminatory AI outputs, please contact the Hub Administrator:
